Konan appeared in 1979 with their SMC-100 hard disk controller for the S-100 bus. The expanded the line over the next few years to include tape controllers and ST-506 Winchester type drives. They did have a six port serial S-100 card but never expanded their lines past that. From the onset they focused on the business community. Few hobbyists adapted their systems. They were located in Phoenix, AZ.
